 Ascari Cars Ltd was first established by Klaas Zwart in 1995 and the company was first based in Dorset, England. Zwart named his company after first Formula One’s first ever double world champion, Italian Albert Ascari. The company has proven to be very successful and a number of the super cars that they have created have been given superb reviews on the hugely popular UK TV series, Top Gear.

 The first production car, in which they designed, developed and produced was the Ecosse which was a road faring version of their concept racing car, the Ascari FGT. The Ecosse was created in the factory in Dorset and was released in 1998. The first version of this mid engine super car was equipped with a 4 litre V8 engine that could produce an impressive 300bhp but later versions of the Ecosse were given a 4.7 litre V8 that could produce a staggering 400bhp and gave the car an official top speed of 200mph.

 By 2003 Ascari had moved to Banbury in Oxfordshire where they created the superb KZ1 sports car with its delicately contoured lines and beautiful interior. The KZ1 is powered by a highly tuned BMW 5 litre V8 engine that produces 500bhp and a 6 speed manual gearbox which can propel the car from 0-60 in an extremely respectable 3.6 seconds.

 The latest addition to the Ascari production car fleet is the fantastic KZ1R which is a road version of the Ascari A10 racing prototype. This wonderful machine has a 5 Litre BMW V8 engine, much the same as the KZ1 but can produce an outstanding 520bhp. It is said that this car can get from 0-60 in just 3 seconds although this has not yet been officially confirmed at this time.
