Hire a Jaguar Super Car

Jaguar Cars Ltd was foundered in 1922 by Sir William Lyons under the original name of the Swallow Sidecar Company. As the name suggests they started out by manufacturing sidecars for motorcycles. Jaguar produced their first car in 1931, called the SS1. The company was renamed Jaguar after the Second World War due to the company initial SS which was used by the German army throughout the war.

By the 1960’s Jaguar had gained a very good reputation for producing luxurious cars but the introduction of the E-Type escalated the company’s reputation twofold. The E-Type ended up being one of the most sought after cars of the 60’s and also had a very successful career as a racing car. These cars were also very competitively priced which helped sales reach more than 70,000 cars throughout its 14 year lifespan.

The Ford Motor Company bought Jaguar in 1989 but unfortunately they proved to be too unprofitable so Ford decided to sell the company in 2008. The huge Indian based motor company; Tata Motors Ltd bought Jaguar from Ford for 2 million US dollars and remains the present owner of the company. Jaguar cars are now manufactured in two plants; Birmingham’s Castle Bromwich and Liverpool’s Halewood site after the closure of the original Browns lane plant in 2005.

Jaguar still manufactures a couple of cars that fit into the super car category; the excellent Jaguar XJR and Jaguar XKR. The XJ range of Jaguars falls into the luxury saloon range whereas the XK models are classed as Grand Tourers. You can hire a Jaguar of this caliber from certain prestige car hire companies and these pages have been designed to help you find the best deals quickly and with as little stress as possible.
